Article 813-4 of the French Civil Code

As long as no heir has accepted the succession, the mandatary of the succession may only perform the acts mentioned in article 784, with the exception of those provided for in its second paragraph. The judge may also authorise any other act required by the interests of the succession. He may authorise the estate agent to draw up an inventory in the forms prescribed in article 789, or request it ex officio.

Tant qu’aucun héritier n’a accepté la succession, le mandataire successoral ne peut accomplir que les actes mentionnés à l’article 784, à l’exception de ceux prévus à son deuxième alinéa. Le juge peut également autoriser tout autre acte que requiert l’intérêt de la succession. Il peut autoriser le mandataire successoral à dresser un inventaire dans les formes prescrites à l’article 789, ou le demander d’office.
