Article 813 of the French Code of civil procedure

When a case is assigned to the single judge, the latter exercises the powers conferred on both the court and the pre-trial judge.

If the case is subsequently referred to the panel, its investigation is continued, if necessary, either by the same judge with the powers of the pre-trial judge, or by the pre-trial judge, depending on the decision of the president of the chamber.

Lorsqu’une affaire est attribuée au juge unique, celui-ci exerce les pouvoirs conférés tant au tribunal qu’au juge de la mise en état.


Si l’affaire est ultérieurement renvoyée à la formation collégiale, son instruction est poursuivie, s’il y a lieu, soit par le même juge avec les pouvoirs du juge de la mise en état, soit par le juge de la mise en état, selon la décision du président de la chambre.
