Article 815-7-1 of the French Civil Code

In Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Réunion and Saint-Martin, when an undivided property for residential use or for mixed residential and professional use is vacant or has not been effectively occupied for more than two calendar years, an undivided co-owner may be authorised by the courts, under the conditions set out in the articles 813-1 to 813-9, to carry out works to improve, rehabilitate and restore the property as well as to carry out administrative acts and publicity formalities, with the sole purpose of leasing it as a principal dwelling.

En Guadeloupe, en Guyane, en Martinique, à La Réunion et à Saint-Martin, lorsqu’un immeuble indivis à usage d’habitation ou à usage mixte d’habitation et professionnel est vacant ou n’a pas fait l’objet d’une occupation effective depuis plus de deux années civiles, un indivisaire peut être autorisé en justice, dans les conditions prévues aux articles 813-1 à 813-9, à exécuter les travaux d’amélioration, de réhabilitation et de restauration de l’immeuble ainsi qu’à accomplir les actes d’administration et formalités de publicité, ayant pour seul objet de le donner à bail à titre d’habitation principale.
