Article 823 of the French Civil Code

Maintenance in undivided ownership may not be prescribed for a period of more than five years. It may be renewed, in the case provided for in the first paragraph of Article 822, until the youngest of the descendants reaches the age of majority and, in the case provided for in the second paragraph of the same article, until the death of the surviving spouse.

Article 823

Le maintien dans l’indivision ne peut être prescrit pour une durée supérieure à cinq ans. Il peut être renouvelé, dans le cas prévu au premier alinéa de l’article 822, jusqu’à la majorité du plus jeune des descendants et, dans le cas prévu au deuxième alinéa du même article, jusqu’au décès du conjoint survivant.
