Article 999 of the French Civil Code

A French person who is in a foreign country may make his testamentary dispositions by private deed, as prescribed in Article 970, or by authentic instrument, with the forms customary in the place where this instrument is made.

Un Français qui se trouvera en pays étranger pourra faire ses dispositions testamentaires par acte sous signature privée, ainsi qu’il est prescrit en l’article 970, ou par acte authentique, avec les formes usitées dans le lieu où cet acte sera passé.
