The Monitoring Committee comprises between eleven and eighteen members. Its composition is set by joint order of the ministers responsible for the environment, health, labour, agriculture and consumer affairs, on a proposal from the Agency’s Director General. Its members are chosen from among persons recognised for their knowledge and skills in the field of products mentioned in article L. 253-1 of the French Rural and Maritime Fishing Code, fertilisers, crop supports and their adjuvants mentioned in article L. 255-1 of the same code and biocidal products mentioned in article L. 522-1 of the French Environment Code.
The chairman and the other members of the Monitoring Committee are appointed, on a proposal from the Agency’s Director General, for a period of three years by joint order of the ministers mentioned in the first paragraph.
In the event of a seat becoming vacant as a result of the permanent incapacity of its holder or the loss by a member of the capacity in respect of which he has been appointed, a new member shall be appointed under the conditions laid down in the previous paragraph. The term of office of this member thus appointed expires at the same time as that of the other members of the Monitoring Committee.
