A committee to monitor and anticipate health risks has been set up under the auspices of the ministers for health and research. This committee is responsible for :
1° Keeping a scientific watch on the health risks associated with infectious agents affecting humans and animals, environmental and food pollutants and climate change;
2° Modelling the data collected as part of its scientific watch and drawing up projections;
3° Issuing recommendations when a projection reveals a health risk;
4° Issuing recommendations on the measures envisaged by the public authorities to combat a health crisis;
5° Issuing, where necessary, recommendations on the vaccination strategy implemented, where appropriate, in response to a health threat identified by the committee.
In order to carry out its duties, the Committee may issue opinions on its own initiative or be asked to do so by one of the ministers to whom it is attached.
The Committee is the competent scientific authority referred to in articles I and II of article 3 of the aforementioned Act of 30 July 2022. It is consulted in this capacity by the Minister for Health.
Its members are bound by confidentiality.
