Article D3131-1 of the French Labour Code

The employer may, under his sole responsibility and by informing the labour inspector, derogate from the minimum period of eleven hours’ daily rest per employee in the event of urgent work whose immediate execution is necessary in order to:

1° Organise rescue measures ;

2° Prevent imminent accidents;

3° Repair accidents to equipment, installations or buildings.

L’employeur peut, sous sa seule responsabilité et en informant l’inspecteur du travail, déroger à la période minimale de onze heures de repos quotidien par salarié en cas de travaux urgents dont l’exécution immédiate est nécessaire pour :

1° Organiser des mesures de sauvetage ;

2° Prévenir des accidents imminents ;

3° Réparer des accidents survenus au matériel, aux installations ou aux bâtiments.
