Article D4362-11-1 of the French Public Health Code

The optician-mutician may adapt the optical corrections of eye contact lens prescriptions dating from less than :

-one year, for patients under 16 years of age;

-three years for a medical prescription and two years for an orthoptic prescription, for patients aged 16 and over;

The prescriber may limit the length of time during which the optician-mutician may adapt the prescription by expressly mentioning this on the prescription, particularly in medical situations specified by order.

The optician-mutician who adapts the initial prescription for ocular contact lenses shall note on the prescription the adaptation of the correction he is making and shall indicate legibly his surname, first name, position, registration identifier made in accordance with article L. 4362-1, date and sign this modification. He informs the prescriber by any means that guarantees the confidentiality of the information transmitted.

A copy of the modified prescription is kept by the optician until its validity expires and the original is kept by the patient.

L’opticien-lunetier peut adapter dans le cadre d’un renouvellement de délivrance, après réalisation d’un examen de la réfraction et sauf opposition du prescripteur mentionnée expressément sur l’ordonnance, les corrections optiques des prescriptions de lentilles de contact oculaire datant de moins de :

-un an, pour les patients âgés de moins de 16 ans ;

-trois ans pour une prescription médicale et deux ans pour une prescription orthoptique, pour les patients âgés de 16 ans et plus ;

Le prescripteur peut limiter la durée pendant laquelle l’opticien-lunetier peut adapter la prescription par une mention expresse sur l’ordonnance, notamment dans des situations médicales précisées par arrêté.

L’opticien-lunetier adaptant la prescription initiale des lentilles de contact oculaire reporte sur l’ordonnance l’adaptation de la correction qu’il réalise et indique lisiblement ses nom, prénom, qualité, identifiant d’enregistrement réalisé conformément à l’article L. 4362-1, date et signe cette modification. Il en informe le prescripteur par tout moyen garantissant la confidentialité des informations transmises.

Une copie de l’ordonnance modifiée est conservée par l’opticien-lunetier jusqu’à l’expiration de sa validité et l’original est conservé par le patient.
