Article D4393-16 of the French Public Health Code

The dental surgery student gives the employer of the dental assistant being replaced an authorisation issued by the departmental council of the dental surgeons’ association of the department in which the dental assistant whom the student is replacing practices.
This authorisation is established on the basis of a certificate stating the duration of the studies carried out and given to the student by the director of the training and research unit with which he is registered with a view to obtaining the State Diploma of Doctor of Dental Surgery.
This authorisation is valid for one year throughout France. It may be renewed under the same conditions, on proof of continuation of the same studies.
Reasons must be given for any unfavourable decision by the Dental Surgeons’ Association.

L’étudiant en chirurgie dentaire remet à l’employeur de l’assistant dentaire remplacé, une autorisation délivrée par le conseil départemental de l’ordre des chirurgiens-dentistes du département dans lequel exerce l’assistant dentaire que l’étudiant remplace.
Cette autorisation est établie sur la base d’une attestation constatant la durée des études effectuées et remise à l’étudiant par le directeur de l’unité de formation et de recherche auprès de laquelle il est inscrit en vue de l’obtention du diplôme d’État de docteur en chirurgie dentaire.
Cette autorisation est valable un an sur l’ensemble du territoire. Elle peut être renouvelée dans les mêmes conditions, sur justification de la poursuite des mêmes études.
Tout avis défavorable du conseil de l’ordre des chirurgiens dentistes est motivé.
