Article D45-17 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In the event of conviction to a fine, the court shall specify in its decision the amount of the fine remaining due after deduction of the amount of the deposit.

In the event of a decision to acquit, or, in the case provided for in the last paragraph of Article 495-21, of sentencing to a penalty other than a fine or to a fine less than the amount of the deposit, the court shall order the reimbursement to the person of the deposit or part thereof.

En cas de condamnation à une peine d’amende, la juridiction de jugement précise dans sa décision le montant de l’amende restant dû après déduction du montant de la consignation.

En cas de décision de relaxe, ou, dans le cas prévu par le dernier alinéa de l’article 495-21, de condamnation à une peine autre qu’une amende ou à une amende inférieure au montant de la consignation, la juridiction ordonne le remboursement à la personne de la consignation ou d’une partie de celle-ci.
