Article D47-1-26 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

If the competent judicial authority is unable to provide a response within the time limit set by the requesting authority, it shall so inform the latter and specify the time limit within which it will forward the information requested.

If the judicial authority to which the request for information has been addressed is not competent to act on it, it shall forward it without delay to the competent authority and inform the requesting authority accordingly.

Article D47-1-26

Si l’autorité judiciaire compétente n’est pas en mesure de fournir une réponse dans le délai fixé par l’autorité requérante, elle l’en informe et précise le délai dans lequel elle transmettra l’information demandée.

Si l’autorité judiciaire à laquelle la demande d’information a été adressée n’est pas compétente pour y donner suite, elle la transmet sans délai à l’autorité compétente et en informe l’autorité requérante.
