University and inter-university student health services supply students with emergency contraception drugs under the following conditions:
° Medicines are issued and administered free of charge to students;
° In the case of medicines for which a doctor’s prescription is compulsory, these are prescribed and may be dispensed and administered by a doctor or midwife; they may also be dispensed and administered by a nurse working in the service on the basis of a doctor’s or midwife’s prescription; the doctor in charge of the service fulfils the obligations imposed on the pharmacist by the provisions of articles R. 5132-9 and R. 5132-10;
° In the case of medicinal products for which a medical prescription is not required, a nurse working in the department may dispense and administer them;
° In all cases, the dispensing of the medicinal product is preceded by an interview with the healthcare professional in order to ensure that the student is in a situation corresponding to the conditions of use of this medicinal product. The interview enables the student to receive information on access to regular contraception, the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and, where appropriate, the benefits of medical monitoring.
