Article D514-19 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

The objects awarded, including those made up or set, in platinum, gold or silver, which do not bear the guarantee mark, but which the successful bidder agrees to have broken and taken out of service, will be returned to him as soon as he has paid the price.

Items made of platinum, gold or silver, which do not bear the guarantee mark, but which the successful bidder wishes to keep in their original form, are temporarily kept for presentation to the guarantee office or the municipal credit union which affixes the guarantee. They are not returned to the successful bidder until the stamps have been affixed.

Les objets adjugés, y compris ceux composés ou garnis, en platine, en or ou en argent, qui ne sont pas empreints de la marque de garantie, mais que l’adjudicataire consent à faire briser et mettre hors de service, lui sont remis dès qu’il en a payé le prix.

Les objets en platine, en or ou en argent, non empreints de la marque de garantie, mais que l’adjudicataire désire conserver dans leur forme, sont provisoirement conservés en vue de leur présentation au bureau de garantie ou à la caisse de crédit municipal qui apposent la garantie. Ils ne sont remis à l’adjudicataire qu’après apposition des poinçons.
