Article D546-2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

If the sentenced person is present at the hearing, he or she will be given a summons to appear before the prison integration and probation service within a period of not more than eight days, if the court has ordered provisional enforcement of its decision, or between ten and fifteen days otherwise.

If the convicted person is not present at the hearing, this summons will be given to them when they are notified of the sentence, or will be sent to them as soon as possible after this notification.

Lorsque le condamné est présent à l’audience, il lui est remis une convocation à comparaître devant le service pénitentiaire d’insertion et de probation dans un délai qui ne serait être supérieur à huit jours, si le tribunal a ordonné l’exécution provisoire de sa décision, ou compris entre dix et quinze jours dans le cas contraire.


Si le condamné n’est pas présent à l’audience, cette convocation lui est remise lors de la notification de la condamnation, ou lui est adressée dans les meilleurs délais après cette notification.
