Article D590-1 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In the case of documents drawn up or converted into digital format pursuant to the first paragraph of Article 801-1 and Articles D. 589 to D. 589-7, may be served on lawyers by sending them by telecommunication to the lawyer’s electronic address, a written record of which shall be kept, in accordance with the provisions of I of Article 803-1 :

<1° Summonses to appear before investigating, trial or sentence enforcement courts;

2° Notices issued in the course of proceedings by judges or prosecutors or their clerks;

3° Decisions handed down by courts or prosecutors;

4° Copies of procedural documents.

Lorsqu’il s’agit d’actes établis ou convertis sous format numérique en application du premier alinéa de l’article 801-1 et des articles D. 589 à D. 589-7, peuvent être notifiés aux avocats par un envoi adressé par un moyen de télécommunication à l’adresse électronique de l’avocat et dont il est conservé une trace écrite, conformément aux dispositions du I de l’article 803-1 :


1° Les convocations devant les juridictions d’instruction, de jugement ou d’application des peines ;


2° Les avis délivrés au cours des procédures par les magistrats du siège ou du ministère public ou par leurs greffiers ;


3° Les décisions rendues par les juridictions ou le ministère public ;


4° Les copies de pièces de procédure.
