Article D6141-37 of the French Public Health Code

Poison control centres are responsible for responding, particularly in emergencies, to any request for risk assessment and any request for an opinion or advice concerning the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of human poisoning, whether accidental or deliberate, individual or collective, acute or otherwise, caused by any product or substance of natural or synthetic origin, available on the market or present in the environment.

In the case of adverse reactions linked to medicinal products or products mentioned in article R. 5121-150, the poison control centre sends information about these reactions to the regional pharmacovigilance centre with territorial jurisdiction, in accordance with article R. 5121-158.

Les centres antipoison sont chargés de répondre, notamment en cas d’urgence, à toute demande d’évaluation des risques et à toute demande d’avis ou de conseil concernant le diagnostic, le pronostic et le traitement des intoxications humaines, accidentelles ou volontaires, individuelles ou collectives, aiguës ou non, provoquées par tout produit ou substance d’origine naturelle ou de synthèse, disponible sur le marché ou présent dans l’environnement.

Lorsqu’il s’agit d’effets indésirables liés à des médicaments ou produits mentionnés à l’article R. 5121-150, le centre antipoison transmet les informations relatives à ces effets au centre régional de pharmacovigilance territorialement compétent, conformément à l’article R. 5121-158.
