The chairman of the hospital medical committee, who is vice-chairman of the Executive Board, works with the director to coordinate the development and implementation of the hospital’s medical project, in accordance with the multi-annual contract of objectives and resources and with the shared medical project if the hospital is part of a regional hospital grouping. It monitors implementation and draws up an annual report.
The medical project is drawn up for a period of five years. It may be amended by means of a rider. It defines the hospital’s medical strategy and specifies the measures to be taken in application of the provisions of the multi-year contract mentioned in articles L. 6114-1 and L. 6114-2. It includes in particular:
1° The medical objectives in line with the regional or inter-regional health plan and the content of the care offered ;
2° The establishment’s objectives in terms of improving the quality and safety of care;
3° Where appropriate, objectives in terms of research and innovative approaches;
4° The organisation of medical resources;
5° A specific appendix specifying the links between the various areas of activity to ensure a coherent patient care pathway;
6° A section relating to the palliative activity of departments or functional units, identifying the departments in the establishment where palliative care is provided.
