A person who, because of functional limitations of the upper limbs linked to a physical disability, is permanently prevented from carrying out acts related to care prescribed by a doctor, may designate a natural carer or a carer of their choice to carry out these acts in order to promote their autonomy.
The disabled person and the persons designated must first receive appropriate education and training from a healthcare professional, enabling them to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform each of the procedures for the disabled person concerned. In the case of procedures related to nursing care, this education and training is provided by a doctor or nurse.
