Article L1125-14 of the French Public Health Code

With a view to the application of the provisions of the first paragraph of article L. 1125-6 and article L. 1125-7, a national register shall be kept of persons who are free of any disease and who voluntarily lend themselves to clinical investigations, as well as sick persons when the purpose of the clinical investigation is unrelated to their pathological condition.

However, the Personal Data Protection Committee may decide in other cases, taking into account the risks and constraints involved in the clinical investigation, that the persons taking part must also be registered in this file.

Article L1125-14
