Article L1132-2 of the French Public Health Code

The profession of genetic counsellor may be practised by, and bear the title of, persons who hold evidence of formal qualifications appearing on a list drawn up by order of the Minister for Health.

By way of derogation from the first paragraph, persons who, on 6 October 2007, have exercised or were exercising functions devolved to genetic counsellors and have obtained authorisation to exercise in this capacity under conditions laid down by order of the Minister for Health may also exercise the profession of genetic counsellor and bear the title of genetic counsellor.

Article L1132-2

Peuvent exercer la profession de conseiller en génétique et en porter le titre les personnes titulaires d’un titre de formation figurant sur une liste fixée par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé.

Par dérogation au premier alinéa, peuvent également exercer la profession de conseiller en génétique et en porter le titre les personnes qui, à la date du 6 octobre 2007, ont exercé ou exerçaient des fonctions dévolues aux conseillers en génétique et ont obtenu l’autorisation d’exercer en cette qualité dans des conditions fixées par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé.
