Article L1221-2 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The National Council for the Training of Locally Elected Representatives is assisted by a Steering Committee. Made up of local elected representatives, experts and qualified personalities, it is responsible for formulating proposals to promote the quality of training courses, proposing a directory of training courses related to the exercise of the mandate, and defining the procedures for assessing the quality of training courses included in this directory. It submits its proposals to the national council for the training of local elected representatives.

At the request of the Government or the national council for the training of local elected representatives, it may formulate an opinion on any issue falling within the remit of the latter.

The terms of application of this article are set by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.

Un conseil d’orientation est placé auprès du conseil national de la formation des élus locaux. Composé d’élus locaux, d’experts et de personnalités qualifiées, il est chargé de formuler des propositions afin de promouvoir la qualité des formations, de proposer un répertoire des formations liées à l’exercice du mandat, et de définir les modalités d’évaluation de la qualité des formations relevant de ce répertoire. Il soumet ses propositions au conseil national de la formation des élus locaux.

A la demande du Gouvernement ou du conseil national de la formation des élus locaux, il peut formuler un avis sur toute question relevant des attributions de ce dernier.

Les modalités d’application du présent article sont fixées par décret en Conseil d’Etat.
