Article L1225-23 of the French Labour Code

When childbirth occurs more than six weeks before the expected date and requires postnatal hospitalisation of the child, maternity leave is extended by the number of days running from the actual date of childbirth to the start of the maternity leave periods mentioned in articles L. 1225-17 to L. 1225-19.

Lorsque l’accouchement intervient plus de six semaines avant la date prévue et exige l’hospitalisation postnatale de l’enfant, le congé de maternité est prolongé du nombre de jours courant de la date effective de l’accouchement au début des périodes de congé de maternité mentionnées aux articles L. 1225-17 à L. 1225-19.
