Article L1225-37 of the French Labour Code

An employee to whom the administrative authority or any body designated by regulation entrusts a child with a view to adoption is entitled to adoption leave of up to sixteen weeks, taken within a period and divided up in accordance with the terms and conditions determined by decree.

Adoption leave is extended to :

1° Eighteen weeks when the adoption brings the number of children for whom the employee or the household is responsible to three or more;

2° Twenty-two weeks in the event of multiple adoptions.

Le salarié à qui l’autorité administrative ou tout organisme désigné par voie réglementaire confie un enfant en vue de son adoption a le droit de bénéficier d’un congé d’adoption d’une durée de seize semaines au plus, pris dans un délai et fractionné selon des modalités déterminées par décret.

Le congé d’adoption est porté à :

1° Dix-huit semaines lorsque l’adoption porte à trois ou plus le nombre d’enfants dont le salarié ou le foyer assume la charge ;

2° Vingt-deux semaines en cas d’adoptions multiples.
