Article L1225-40 of the French Labour Code

When the duration of the adoption leave is divided between the two parents, the adoption of a child by a couple of employed parents gives entitlement to an additional twenty-five days of adoption leave or thirty-two days in the case of multiple adoptions.

The leave thus allocated may not exceed, for each parent, the period of sixteen weeks or, where applicable, eighteen or twenty-two weeks provided for in article L. 1225-37.

These two periods may be simultaneous.

Lorsque la durée du congé d’adoption est répartie entre les deux parents, l’adoption d’un enfant par un couple de parents salariés ouvre droit à vingt-cinq jours supplémentaires de congé d’adoption ou à trente-deux jours en cas d’adoptions multiples.

Le congé ainsi réparti ne peut être d’une durée supérieure, pour chaque parent, à la durée de seize semaines ou, le cas échéant, de dix-huit ou vingt-deux semaines prévue à l’article L. 1225-37.

Ces deux périodes peuvent être simultanées.
