Article L1234-13 of the French Labour Code

When the permanent employment contract is terminated as a result of an event of force majeure, the employee is entitled to compensation equal to that which would have resulted from the application of articles L. 1234-5, relating to compensation in lieu of notice, and L. 1234-9, relating to compensation for dismissal.

This compensation is payable by the employer.

Lorsque la rupture du contrat de travail à durée indéterminée résulte d’un sinistre relevant d’un cas de force majeure, le salarié a droit à une indemnité compensatrice d’un montant égal à celui qui aurait résulté de l’application des articles L. 1234-5, relatif à l’indemnité compensatrice de préavis, et L. 1234-9, relatif à l’indemnité de licenciement.

Cette indemnité est à la charge de l’employeur.
