In Saint-Barthélemy, a local authority service is created, known as the “fire and rescue service”, which includes a fire brigade, composed under the conditions set out in the present article and organised into a fire and rescue centre.
This service is responsible for preventing, protecting against and fighting fires.
It contributes, with the other services and professionals concerned, to the protection and fight against other accidents, disasters and catastrophes, to the assessment and prevention of technological or natural risks and to emergency rescue.
As part of its remit, it carries out the following missions:
1° The prevention and assessment of civil security risks;
2° The preparation of safeguard measures and the organisation of rescue resources;
3° The protection of people, property and the environment;
4° Emergency assistance to people who are victims of accidents, disasters or catastrophes and their evacuation.
