The fire and rescue services are responsible for preventing, protecting against and fighting fires.
They contribute, along with the other services and professionals concerned, to protecting against and fighting other accidents, disasters and catastrophes, assessing and preventing technological or natural risks and providing emergency assistance.
Within the scope of their responsibilities, they carry out the following tasks:
1° Prevention and assessment of civil protection risks;
2° Preparation of protective measures and organisation of emergency resources;
3° Protection of people, property and the environment;
4° Emergency assistance to victims of accidents, disasters or catastrophes and their evacuation.
