Under the control of the town council and the administrative control of the State representative in the department, the mayor is generally responsible for carrying out the decisions of the town council and, in particular:
1° Preserving and administering the properties of the municipality and, as a result, carrying out all acts to preserve its rights;
2° Managing revenues, supervising communal establishments and communal accounting ;
3° Preparing and proposing the budget and authorising expenditure, charging it to the investment section in accordance with each of the express deliberations of the assembly for capital expenditure relating to movable property not included in the lists and of a value below a threshold set by order of the ministers in charge of finance and local authorities;
4° Directing communal works;
5° Providing for measures relating to communal roads ;
6° To enter into contracts, lease property and award contracts for communal works in the forms established by the laws and regulations;
7° To enter into deeds of sale, exchange, division, acceptance of gifts or legacies, acquisition, transaction, in the same forms, when these deeds have been authorised in accordance with the provisions of this Code…;
8° To represent the municipality either as plaintiff or defendant;
9° To take, in the absence of the owners or holders of hunting rights, duly invited to do so, all measures necessary for the destruction of animals of non-domestic species for at least one of the reasons mentioned in 1° to 5° of article L. 427-6 of the Environment Code and to request, under the conditions set out in article L. 427-5 of the same code, residents with weapons and dogs suitable for hunting these animals, for the purpose of destroying the latter, to supervise and ensure the execution of these measures, which may include trapping these animals, and to draw up a report;
10° To carry out census surveys.
