Article L2223-18 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

A decree in the Council of State sets out:

1° The conditions under which the reports establishing the state of abandonment are drawn up;

2° The methods of publicity that must be used to bring the reports to the attention of the families and the public;

3° The measures to be taken by the communes to preserve the names of the persons buried in the plot and the reburial or cremation of any bones that may still be there;

4° The conditions under which the articles L. 2223-14 to L. 2223-17 are applicable to concessions of spaces for the deposit or burial of urns in the cemetery.

Article L2223-18

Un décret en Conseil d’Etat fixe :

1° Les conditions dans lesquelles sont dressés les procès-verbaux constatant l’état d’abandon ;

2° Les modalités de la publicité qui doit être faite pour porter les procès-verbaux à la connaissance des familles et du public ;

3° Les mesures à prendre par les communes pour conserver les noms des personnes inhumées dans la concession et la réinhumation ou la crémation des ossements qui peuvent s’y trouver encore ;

4° Les conditions dans lesquelles les articles L. 2223-14 à L. 2223-17 sont applicables aux concessions des espaces pour le dépôt ou l’inhumation des urnes dans le cimetière.
