The communes are, on the proposal of the sellers, authorised to acquire, in return for the payment of a life annuity, the properties they need for property restoration, development or equipment operations.

Where a property sold in this way is occupied in whole or in part by the vendor, the life annuity contract must include, for his benefit and that of his spouse living with him on the date of the deed of sale, the reservation of a right to live in the said property in whole or in part for their lifetime.
