Article L2311-4 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

On the occasion of a general or supplementary population census, municipalities and their administrative public establishments have one financial year, from the date of publication of the results, to comply with the budgetary and accounting provisions relating to their belonging to a different demographic stratum.

A l’occasion d’un recensement général ou complémentaire de population, les communes et leurs établissements publics administratifs disposent d’un exercice budgétaire, à compter de la date de publication des résultats, pour se conformer aux dispositions budgétaires et comptables liées à leur appartenance à une strate démographique différente.
