So long as they do not become an unreasonable burden on the social assistance system referred to in Directive 2004/38 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the right of citizens of the Union and their family members to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States, citizens of the European Union and their family members, as defined in Articles L. 200-4 and L. 200-5 and accompanying or joining a European Union citizen, have the right to reside in France for a maximum period of three months, without any conditions or formalities other than those required for entry into French territory.
