Article L234-3 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

European Union citizens who have ceased their professional activity in France and their family members may acquire the right of permanent residence under conditions that derogate from the five-year period and those relating to continuity of residence, of article L. 234-1, in accordance with procedures laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.

Les citoyens de l’Union européenne ayant cessé leur activité professionnelle en France et les membres de leur famille peuvent acquérir le droit au séjour permanent dans des conditions dérogatoires au délai de cinq ans et celles relatives à la continuité de séjour, de l’article L. 234-1, selon des modalités fixées par décret en Conseil d’Etat.
