Article L2341-6 of the French Labour Code

The consultation provided for in this Title shall consist, for the head of the undertaking or the leading undertaking in the Community-scale group of undertakings or any other more appropriate level of management, in organising an exchange of views and establishing a dialogue with the representatives of the employees at a time, in such a way and with such content as to enable them to express, on the basis of the information provided and within a reasonable time, an opinion on the measures which are the subject of the consultation, which may be taken into account within the Community-scale undertaking or group of undertakings, without prejudice to the responsibilities of the employer.

Article L2341-6

La consultation prévue par le présent titre consiste, pour le chef de l’entreprise ou de l’entreprise dominante du groupe d’entreprises de dimension communautaire ou tout autre niveau de direction plus approprié, à organiser un échange de vues et à établir un dialogue avec les représentants des salariés à un moment, d’une façon et avec un contenu qui permettent à ceux-ci d’exprimer, sur la base des informations fournies et dans un délai raisonnable, un avis concernant les mesures faisant l’objet de la consultation, qui peut être pris en compte au sein de l’entreprise ou du groupe d’entreprises de dimension communautaire, sans préjudice des responsabilités de l’employeur.
