I.-Sales are sales that are accompanied or preceded by advertising and are announced as being aimed, through a reduction in price, at the accelerated disposal of goods in stock.
Sales take place during two periods per calendar year, each lasting a minimum of three weeks and a maximum of six weeks, with the start and end dates and times set by an order of the Minister for the Economy. This order may provide, for these two periods, and for sales other than those mentioned in article L. 221-1 of the consumer code, different dates in certain departments to take account of strong seasonal sales or commercial operations carried out in border regions.
Products advertised as being on sale must have been offered for sale and paid for for at least one month at the start date of the sale period in question.
II.-In any advertising, sign, company name or trade name, the use of the word: sale(s) or its derivatives is prohibited to designate any activity, company name or trade name, sign or capacity that does not relate to a sale operation as defined in I above.
