Article L311-7 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

For the purposes of this Title, a durable medium is any instrument which enables the customer or professional to store information addressed personally to him so that he can refer to it at a later date for a period of time appropriate to the purposes for which the information is intended, and which allows identical reproduction of the information stored.

Constitue un support durable, au sens du présent titre, tout instrument offrant au client ou au professionnel la possibilité de stocker des informations qui lui sont adressées personnellement afin de pouvoir s’y reporter ultérieurement pendant un laps de temps adapté aux fins auxquelles les informations sont destinées, et qui permet la reproduction à l’identique des informations conservées.
