Article L313-3 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

In the event of a pecuniary judgement, the legal interest rate is increased by five points at the end of a period of two months from the date on which the judgement becomes enforceable, even if it is provisional. This effect is attached ipso jure to the judgment of auction on seizure of property, four months after it is delivered.

However, the enforcement judge may, at the request of the debtor or the creditor, and in consideration of the debtor’s situation, exempt the debtor from this increase or reduce the amount.

En cas de condamnation pécuniaire par décision de justice, le taux de l’intérêt légal est majoré de cinq points à l’expiration d’un délai de deux mois à compter du jour où la décision de justice est devenue exécutoire, fût-ce par provision. Cet effet est attaché de plein droit au jugement d’adjudication sur saisie immobilière, quatre mois après son prononcé.

Toutefois, le juge de l’exécution peut, à la demande du débiteur ou du créancier, et en considération de la situation du débiteur, exonérer celui-ci de cette majoration ou en réduire le montant.
