Article L322-10 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The auction results in the forced sale of the seized property and transfers ownership to the successful bidder.
It does not confer on the latter any rights other than those belonging to the distrainee. The latter is obliged to deliver the property to the successful bidder and to guarantee against eviction.

L’adjudication emporte vente forcée du bien saisi et en transmet la propriété à l’adjudicataire.
Elle ne confère à celui-ci d’autres droits que ceux appartenant au saisi. Ce dernier est tenu, à l’égard de l’adjudicataire, à la délivrance du bien et à la garantie d’éviction.
