The Director General of the Institut national de la propriété industrielle shall take the decisions provided for in this code when issuing, rejecting or maintaining industrial property titles, as well as when approving, rejecting or amending the specifications of geographical indications defined in Article L. 721-2 or the withdrawal of such approval.
It shall rule on applications for invalidity or revocation of trademarks and on oppositions filed against patents for invention, referred to in 2° of Article L. 411-1. Appeals against these decisions are suspensive
In the exercise of these powers, it is not subject to the supervisory authority. Appeals against its decisions shall be heard directly by the courts of appeal designated by regulation.
An appeal in cassation against the decisions of the courts of appeal ruling on such appeals shall be open to the parties and to the Director General of the National Institute of Industrial Property.
A decree in Council of State shall specify the conditions of application of this Article.
