The tasks of the primary care or secondary care medical specialist include the following:
1° Completing patient care by carrying out an expert diagnostic and therapeutic analysis, implementing appropriate treatment and monitoring patients, in accordance with the procedures specific to the skills of each discipline;
2° Contributing to prevention and health education;
3° Participating in the public service mission of permanent care;
4° Contributing to the reception and training of trainees in the second and third cycles of medical studies.
The secondary care specialist may act as a correspondent doctor, in conjunction with the general practitioner, for the joint monitoring of the patient and the development of the care plan.
The primary or secondary care specialist works in cooperation with health establishments and helps to prevent unnecessary or avoidable hospitalisation.
