Herbalists who qualified on 20 September 1941 have the right to practise for life.
Qualified herbalists may hold for sale and sell for medical use medicinal plants or parts of plants, whether indigenous or acclimatised, with the exception of those mentioned in article L. 5132-7.
These plants or parts of plants may not, under any circumstances, be supplied to the public in the form of a mixture prepared in advance; however, authorisations for the mixture of certain specific medicinal plants may be granted by the Minister for Health.
The sale to the public of medicinal plants, whether mixed or not, is strictly prohibited in all public places, in private homes and in shops other than pharmacies and herbalists’ shops.
In the exercise of their profession, qualified herbalists are subject to the same rules as those governing pharmacists for the sale of their products.
