Any person who is not a doctor and who performs professional medical electroradiology procedures on medical prescription and under the responsibility of a doctor is considered to be practising the profession of medical electroradiology technician.
Where applicable, the medical electroradiology manipulator works under the technical authority of a medical physicist for medical physics activities implemented during the preparation or performance of procedures exposing patients to ionising radiation. A Conseil d’Etat decree, issued after consultation with the Académie nationale de médecine, defines the procedures or activities performed by medical radiation technologists and the conditions under which they are carried out.
The medical electroradiology manipulator may also, within the framework provided for in article L. 5126-3 and under the technical authority of a pharmacist, assist in carrying out the procedures defined by decree of the Conseil d’Etat, issued after consultation with the Académie nationale de pharmacie.
