The Regional Council shall determine, after consulting the Council for Culture, Education and the Environment, the complementary educational and cultural activities relating to knowledge of regional languages and cultures, which may be organised in schools falling within the region’s jurisdiction.
These activities, which may take place during the opening hours of the establishments concerned, are optional and cannot replace or detract from the teaching and training programmes defined by the State.
They are financed by the region. The organisation and operation of these activities are specified in agreements concluded between the region, the local authority managing the establishment, the head of the establishment and, where applicable, the association or body providing the services.
Other complementary educational, sporting and cultural activities may also be organised by the region and other local authorities under the conditions set out in article L. 216-1 of the Education Code.
