The regions of Guadeloupe, Mayotte and Réunion define the actions they intend to carry out in cultural matters, following the opinion or, where appropriate, the proposal of the local authorities and the council for culture, education and the environment.
To this end, the regional council draws up a regional cultural programme, particularly in the field of regional languages, literature, the plastic arts, music and film.
Each of the regions concerned shall ensure the enhancement and development of the specific heritage of the region. Heritage conservation will be defined and programmed within the framework of the regional heritage and sites commissions set up by Article L. 612-1 of the Heritage Code, and whose composition, in the overseas regions concerned, is defined by a Conseil d’Etat decree.
