Article L511-8 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

It is prohibited for any undertaking other than a credit institution or finance company to use a name, company name, advertising or, in general, expressions that lead to the belief that it is authorised as a credit institution or finance company respectively, or to create confusion in this respect.

A credit institution or finance company may not imply that it belongs to a category other than that for which it has obtained authorisation, or create confusion on this point.

Il est interdit à toute entreprise autre qu’un établissement de crédit ou une société de financement d’utiliser une dénomination, une raison sociale, une publicité ou, d’une façon générale, des expressions faisant croire qu’elle est agréée respectivement en tant qu’établissement de crédit ou société de financement, ou de créer une confusion en cette matière.

Il est interdit à un établissement de crédit ou une société de financement de laisser entendre qu’il appartient à une catégorie autre que celle au titre de laquelle il a obtenu son agrément ou de créer une confusion sur ce point.
