Article L5221-5 of the French Labour Code

A foreign national authorised to reside in France may not engage in paid employment in France without first obtaining the work permit referred to in 2° of article L. 5221-2.

A work permit is automatically granted to foreign nationals authorised to reside in France for the purpose of concluding a fixed-term apprenticeship or professional training contract. This authorisation is automatically granted to unaccompanied foreign minors in the care of the child welfare authority, subject to presentation of an apprenticeship or professional training contract.

The work permit may be withdrawn if the foreign national has not been issued with a medical certificate within three months of the permit being issued.

Article L5221-5

Un étranger autorisé à séjourner en France ne peut exercer une activité professionnelle salariée en France sans avoir obtenu au préalable l’autorisation de travail mentionnée au 2° de l’article L. 5221-2.

L’autorisation de travail est accordée de droit à l’étranger autorisé à séjourner en France pour la conclusion d’un contrat d’apprentissage ou de professionnalisation à durée déterminée. Cette autorisation est accordée de droit aux mineurs isolés étrangers pris en charge par l’aide sociale à l’enfance, sous réserve de la présentation d’un contrat d’apprentissage ou de professionnalisation.

L’autorisation de travail peut être retirée si l’étranger ne s’est pas fait délivrer un certificat médical dans les trois mois suivant la délivrance de cette autorisation.
