Article L531-13 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The asylum seeker introduces himself and answers in person the questions put to him by the agent of the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons during the personal interview. He/she will be heard, under the conditions laid down in article L. 521-6, in the language of his/her choice or in another language of which he/she has sufficient knowledge.

Le demandeur d’asile se présente et répond personnellement aux questions qui lui sont posées par l’agent de l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides lors de l’entretien personnel. Il est entendu, dans les conditions prévues à l’article L. 521-6, dans la langue de son choix ou dans une autre langue dont il a une connaissance suffisante.
