Article L531-6 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons will decide on the application, taking into account the situation prevailing in the applicant’s country of origin on the date of its decision, the applicant’s personal situation and statements, the evidence and information he or she has submitted and, where applicable, the activities he or she has pursued since leaving his or her country of origin and which would be likely to expose him or her in that country to persecution or serious harm. The Office will also take account, where appropriate, of the fact that the applicant can avail himself of the protection of another country whose nationality he is entitled to claim.

Article L531-6
