Article L541-2 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The certificate issued in application of article L. 521-7, once the asylum application has been lodged with the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons, is equivalent to a provisional residence permit and is renewable until the Office and, where applicable, the National Court of the Right of Asylum make a decision.

L’attestation délivrée en application de l’article L. 521-7, dès lors que la demande d’asile a été introduite auprès de l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides, vaut autorisation provisoire de séjour et est renouvelable jusqu’à ce que l’office et, le cas échéant, la Cour nationale du droit d’asile statuent.
